Karland

Karland is a nebula located one billion light-years away from Earth. The planets within it formed when six meteors were caught in its gravitational center. Eons ago, these meteors collided and eventually formed planets and galaxies within it.

The shattered fragments of these six meteors formed thousands of smaller worlds while a few of these larger worlds formed into planets. These planets however are not like planets in the normal universe. A planet’s sun can sometimes be merely the size of a small moon and orbit its parent planet. Climate and geography is also highly anomalous as two different climate zones such as a desert and a tundra can be side by side one another, separated only by an arbitrary border that can easily be walked over. The rules of convection do not always apply and one can stand near lava without ill effect.

The nebula itself has a mysterious border around it as Karland appears to be much bigger from within than it should be. It is speculated that Karland isn’t just a nebula but also an entire universe enclosed inside our own.

Getting there

A stable portal from Earth to Karland can be found in a hidden facility in Antarctica. It is not quite certain who created the portal, but it is thought that a group of researchers observed the Karland nebula from Earth and decided to create a wormhole that could take someone there.

Worlds

Mamphibireptile

One of the most notable areas is Mamphibireptile an Earth-like world with two moons: Beaunu and Desolat. It consists of oceans with islands off the coast of a main continent. The continent is home to the metropolis Moucat City while a nearby power plant called Laser Industries provides energy to the city in the form of Power Gems.

The Depths

When someone falls into a bottomless pit, they tend to find their way in the inbetween spaces of the multiverse. These locations consist of a variety of miniature pocket dimensions often no larger than a few city blocks. They are connected to one another through portals. Those who manage to find their way through the maze can return to normal space.

Despite how dangerous the Depths are, within these miniature worlds can be found small, peaceful communities formed by others who had fallen into bottomless pits themselves.

Gophertopia

Another major world is Gophertopia, ruled by Queen Ashley – the witch queen who rules over Gophers that on the outside seem like cute pets, but become very dangerous through their large consumption of resources. Queen Ashley’s goal is to conquer the universe by making it a paradise for all Gophers to live by siphoning the energy of all the other worlds in Karland.

Resource Worlds

A broad term for a vast number of worlds, the Resource Worlds are various planets throughout the multiverse that were invaded by the forces of Gophertopia. They were targeted since these worlds provided very specific resources that could be provided to the Gophers.

The Planet Graveyard

The Planet Graveyard is a particularly large area located at the center of Karland. The remains of any physically obliterated worlds drift off into space to eventually coalesce in this location. Anyone who happens to be on a destroyed world will more than likely find themselves here.

The Planet Graveyard, in some respects, is an afterlife for the universe of Karland.

Galaxy of Robotic Agents

A miniature galaxy located a mere three lightyears from Mamphibireptile. The Robotic Agents under the leadership of Commander Wally keep the peace.

Moolky Way Galaxy

A far away galaxy populated by spacefaring cows. The No Milk Empire threatens to destroy all milk and replace it with beef. The only issue is that they’re not very good at their job.

Certain cows with superpowers like being able to wield a laser sword are known as Bullseyes.

Cosmology

Mirror Space

Mirror Space is located outside the normal bounds of time and space of Karland. It consists of little more than a variety of abstract, colorful shapes arranged like a stained glass window. In some respects, it is considered the very edge of the Karland universe.

2D Zone

Mirror Space is also the place where the dimensions act anomalously. Going far enough, one will find 2-D Zone, a world where everything is completely flat. Some beings are limited to either 2D or 3D, but some have the power to freely travel between both.

The Blocks

The Blocks are a series of colorful shapes resembling small wooden toy blocks. They appear in a variety of forms from rectangular prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cubes and more. They can arrange themselves in many different shapes to form entire worlds.

The Block are one of the tools that Karl used to shape the various realms throughout Karland, and on some occasions, they can even create living entities.
