Hey guys! Krayfishkarl here! I have now released the final set of legacy games! Here is what we have.
The Trophy Tower: Top-Down Version (2005)

This is an alternative version of The Trophy Tower but it instead takes place from a top-down perspective. You play as Henry, the last hero of medieval times who must travel the land of Trophia to stop the evil wizard Jamgem. The game was created to experiment with a camera that could dynamically scroll in multiple directions. While this game shares many graphics from the sidescroller version, it features a few differences such as new levels, new enemies and different boss behaviors from the original.
The Art of Making Money (2006)

This is a board game where two players take turns rolling the die to move across a board. Depending on what space they land on, certain events will occur that will add or take away from your money. Whoever has the most cash at the end wins. Players can pick between four different characters and change the number of turns before the game ends.
Like The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, I made this one for a school project. I spent a little more time on this port than most other games because I heavily modified the gameplay from the original. While I kept the graphics virtually the same, I redid the code from the ground up. Because the original game was made on a tight deadline, I thought it would only be right to add more polish to bring it to the standard I initially intended. I improved upon the rules with new additions such as earning $100 every time you complete a lap.
Zackulback: The Tail of a Cat (2007)

This was my biggest game of 2007, a lengthy sidescroller adventure starring the familiar cat Zackulback. Travel across a magical continent on the other side of the world to rescue the princesses and to stop the cybernetic mutant Buggsina.
Of all the legacy games released, this one received some of the most extensive changes, one of which was reworking the jump physics entirely. After my experience developing many other platforming games since then, I wanted to fine tune the controls to be more responsive and snappy. I slightly tweaked the existing layout where needed and even went as far as redoing a few levels to match the new flow of the game.
I also redid the game’s entire soundtrack from the ground up. To be authentic to the era, I limited myself to only using the standard set of MIDI instruments. I also incorporated the melodies from unused songs for other projects that I created around that time.
Additionally, I implemented new functionality on the game’s optional hidden collectibles. If you beat the final boss with all of them collected, you will get a new bonus ending.
Rusty’s Animalistic Quest (2025)

We’re rounding things off with a reimagining of a legacy game that was sadly lost to time. Thankfully, my memory of this 20 year old game is relatively intact so I was able to both recreate and expand upon its ideas. You play as Rusty the cat who can spit hairballs multidirectionally. Fight your way through gauntlets of quirky enemies and hilarious situations in this top down shooter. It’s a short game that can be completed from start to finish in about five minutes.
Outro
This concludes the legacy games project. The greatest hits of Krayfish Entertainment from 2005 to 2008 are now fully preserved on my website. While I still have countless other Multimedia Fusion projects on that drive, they are unfortunately too incomplete to release publicly as they are. However, it is certainly possible I may either finish them as originally intended or repurpose their ideas for future projects. We’ll see how things go. That being said, I can confirm that my next commercial project after Droplet: States of Matter is well into pre-production. I hope to share more information at a future date.
Speaking of Droplet: States of Matter, the game and its original soundtrack are currently taking part in the Steam Winter Sale. From now until January 5, both will be 50% off. If you like old school inspired 3D platformers, now is a better time than ever to check them out.

Until next time, this is Krayfishkarl signing out.
